How is pharma or PhRMA for that matter suggesting that social media work within the legal confines they are forced to work within? Wouldn't these social media sites need to be constantly monitored by the FDA since they would in essence be "detailing" the patients and physicians? Is not an ever changing document a "home made" detail piece which is prohibited by the FDA because it does not have the required PI language that needs to accompany every comment?

I am a pharmaceutical representative that is also pursuing a PhD in new media...I just can't seem to get my head around how you get this through regulatory....

I'm all for communicating with the publics (patients, docs, the community) to provide information and am a strong advocate for social media as an outlet...but I don't know how to do it within the confines of FDA regulation in the current environment. Thoughts?
